Pearl Collection Bracelet

Looking for a sweet project that will use little collections of single pearls? Summer is the perfect time to create a piece of jewelry that is reminiscent of the ocean. Design this one-of-a-kind summer bracelet using pearls.

This is a great advanced beginner project for the person with some knotting experience. Gather together a collection of assorted freshwater pearls. You might uncover leftovers from previous projects or you may be pleased to discover that Beadworks is now offering freshwater pearls by the individual bead.

Tools:

  • Design Board (optional)
  • Knotting Awl or Knotting Tweezers
  • Twisted Wire Needles
  • Snips
  • Velvet Board

Ingredients:

  • 20 to 30 4mm-6mm assorted freshwater pearls
  • 4 feet of appropriately sized (for your pearls) color-coordinated silk
  • 2 basket bead tips
  • 1 toggle clasp

Directions:

  1. Measure the dimension of the wrist that will be wearing this little treasure.
  2. Lay your collection of freshwater pearls out on a bead board and rearrange them until you are happy with the pattern. Make sure to leave a small space between each bead because knots take up space and you do not want your bracelet to be too big.
  3. String your silk on to the twisted wire needle and tie a square knot. Use the snips to cut the silk very close to the bead tip.
  4. String on the basket bead tip so the knot lays securely in the cup of the bead tip. Add one drop of super glue to the knot and let dry.
  5. String your collection on freshwater pearls on the silk in the pattern you have designed.
  6. Knot your collection of freshwater pearls. If you need a reminder how to knot between beads please print out one of our Beading Techniques handouts. Remember to start and end with a pearl next to the bead tip not a knot.
  7. Add the second bead tip and tie a square knot, placing it firmly in the cup of the bead tip. Snip the excess silk close to the bead tip.
  8. Add one drop of super glue using a toothpick. Making sure not to glue the bead tip to the pearl.
  9. Attach the toggle and the bar to the basket bead tips and secure.
  10. ENJOY!
